Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to impart both concept, practical and hands-on training to the prospective candidates on Process design and engineering of chemical process plants. The course will be focused to provide industrial exposure to the candidates so that they can be easily absorbed by the industries, EPC contractors and consultants.

  • Process Simulation using Hysys
  • Process Equipment Sizing
  • Preparation of Equipment Specification and datasheets
  • Preparation of specification for package equipment
  • Preparation of Process control and shutdown philosophies
  • Storage Tanks Sizing
  • Pump, valve, blower and compressor selection and sizing
  • Process Control & Optimization study
  • Fluid Flow Operation
  • Material Selection
  • Heat and Mass Transfer and Recovery
  • Plant and Process Layout
  • Line List Preparation
  • Equipment List Preparation
  • HAZID, HAZOP studies and implementation of their outcome
  • Preparation of Cause and Effect Diagrams
  • Preparation of Shutdown Hierarchy (block diagrams)
  • Preparation of Process operation manual and procedures
  • Hazardous area classification
  • Preparation of commissioning procedures

Course Duration

50 hours of class room training and 100 hours of practical exposure over a span of two months

  • BE/B Tech in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering
